How to cut a gemstone in a few steps.

The first step is to choose a stone to cut. And that on its own is enough for a blog post! But today

I want to talk about the essential steps to cut a stone.

Second step is to trim your stone on a trim saw and dop it. You can use wax or glue. I personally prefer wax. But for heat sensitive stones you have to use glue.

Third step will be to take your stone to the diamond wheals. And that may start at an 80 grit or higher depending on the hardness of your stone. The softer the stone the higher you start.

Fourth step will be to make sure your design/shape is totally scratch free before you move to the next grit. If you have missed a scratch do not worry for it will show in your next higher grit! And all you have to do is to go back and restart.

To cut a stone and to take it to a high polish stage you have to be patiente and you have to persevere. If you are patient and do go back has many times has you stone requires you to do, you will be rewarded with a magical shiny stone.

Happy cutting!
